Do good things come to those who wait?

I once heard a story about a young girl being asked what her plans were for her future. She answered, “I’m just waiting to see what happens.”

Is it wise to wait to see what happens?

Not everyone can be that person who walks into a store to get a cup of coffee and decides to drop a buck on a lottery ticket, that ends up being the big winning ticket. Most people have to work for what they get.

But when it comes to waiting, is technology one of those things for which you want to wait?

Many have.

Over the years I have heard people say they were considering purchasing a new technology but they were waiting for a certain improvement on that technology before purchasing. They even waited to commit to something just because things were changing so fast, that by the time it was purchased and people trained, it would already be obsolete. This was especially true with Personal Computers a few years ago when it seemed that every week there was some big advancement. And a computer was obsolete even before it left the assembly line.

The truth is, if it will help you do your job, it’s time to get it.

Everyone wants to have the newest technology available. If it’s not going to be used any different than what you are already using it’s relativity new it makes no sense to get the new technology.

But if it’s going to help get the job done faster and better then it’s time to make that change. Even if it appears that something newer and better is just around the corner.

There’s no losing. Don’t wait. Make the change. Otherwise you’ll find yourself always waiting.
