Acronym: MAC
Recently I was talking with a business owner and we were discussing how acronyms have overwhelm many of us. One of the ones discussed was MAC so I thought I would republish this tip.
MAC – For many who work in Telecom and Telecommunications MAC stands for Move, Adds or Changes. It usually refers to a work order given to a technician to perform the work.
With the advent of the computer industry, which many of us are also involved, the acronym MAC first was the shorten form of the MacIntosh computer from Apple. It also stands for Media Access Control address.
So it may just depend on who you are talking with on the meaning or actually could mean three different things in one statement.
“I have a MAC order to add your computer to the network. Do you know the MAC address for your Mac?”
