When is a Toll Free call not free?
The answer is always. It should really be called Automatic Collect, since the one being called is accepting charges.
But there are also times when it’s not free to the one placing the call. If calling a toll free number from a cellphone, the long distance charges are free, but you are still using your minutes.
If you are a business that has a toll-free number never call your toll free number from a cellphone. In reality you are paying for the call twice. The toll-free cost as well as using your cellular minutes.
Encourage people to use your local calling number in your local area instead of the toll free number. This can be done by not advertising your toll free number locally. Many times you are being charged long distance rates for that local call.
