What the Kindle?
Disclaimer: This is a Commentary/Promotion and not a Review
The title of this should probably be What is the Kindle?, but it sounded better as is. Some of you may have noticed that for the past few months I have had a graphic and link to Amazon for their new Kindle as an advertiser. And some of you may have been wonder what the Kindle is.
The Kindle is a new product created in conjunction with Amazon.com to create “an entirely new class of device—a convenient, portable reading device with the ability to wirelessly download books, blogs, magazines, and newspapers.”
For years I have been using my Palm PDA to download and read items of interest while on the move. And to me the idea behind this is great and in some ways overdue.
The Kindle is a device about the size of a thin HardCover book. It has a 6″ diagonal display with a 600 X 800 pixel resolution. The only downside is that it’s only 4-level gray scale and not color.
I have not talked about this before, it’s been on Amazon.com since before the holiday season but wasn’t available without an estimate delivery date. While this is still the case, Amazon has issued a statement that it will soon be widely available.
Many books and subscription are available for downloading into the Kindle’s memory. Amazon states that it “can hold 110,000 books plus newspapers, magazines, and blogs.”. Anything from novels, business and self help books to newspaper and magazine subscriptions.

I have also made my book Technology Tips for Small Business available as a Kindle download. The Amazon Kindle price is over 65% of the print version. And it can go anywhere you go.
