There’s a beeping tone on the other end!

Have you ever answered the telephone only to hear a series of beeps instead of a person’s voice? It may not be as noticeable as it was a few years ago, or then again maybe it’s even more common. Either way more than likely, a Fax machine originated those tones.

What do you do when you hear them? One thing could be just to ignore them. Most Fax machines have a setting to retry sending the message, but it’s usually only for three to five times.

But there is another thing you could do, depending on what features your telephone system are capable of performing. If you have call transfer, transfer the call to your fax machine, once it’s answered, the two machines will communicate and both sides will be happy.

Just be sure to contact the originating party to let them know you received their Fax in error.
