The Beatles or Steve Jobs?

It must be true. For the question on who’s greater, The Beatles or Steve Jobs, the answer must be Steve Jobs.

Huh, What?

Over the years the Beatles who in 1968 created a recording company and called it Apple Corps, and Steve Jobs, who along with Steve Wozinak stared Apple Computer in 1976 have been at war. The war was over the name and logo. There had been a lengthy litigation over the logo that was settled in 1991. That out-of-court settlement Apple computer paid Apple Corps 26.5 million dollars and each side agreed not to enter into the other’s field of business.

When Apple Computer began marketing the iPod and then the iTunes store, Apple Corps felt as if they had moved into the music business.

But on May 8, 2006 England’s High Court Judge Anthony Mann disagreed.

“I conclude that the use of the apple logo … does not suggest a relevant connection with the creative work,” Mann said in his written judgment. “I think that the use of the apple logo is a fair and reasonable use of the mark in connection with the service, which does not go further and unfairly or unreasonably suggest an additional association with the creative works themselves.”

So for now I suppose it could be said the Steve Jobs is bigger than The Beatles.
